Tom Herman

    Tom Herman graduated from the Eastman School of Music, where he studied composition with Samuel Adler.  He later studied with Arthur Berger and Harold Shapiro at Brandeis University, and Peter Maxwell Davies in London.  Piano studies were with Lily Dumont, Robert Helps and Sofia Rosoff. 

    Mr. Herman has written art songs, chamber music, piano works, choral and orchestral music and musical theater.  He has had performances of his music in Canada and Europe as well as the U.S.   His CD, Tom Herman/Music for Voice, features soprano Rebecca Luker.  His musical Jack’s Back! was produced at the T. Schreiber Studio in New York City.  He has taught at Sarah Lawrence College and Fordham University.  Mr. Herman is the recipient of a National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship Award.
